Michael M. Ain
Gary A. Stein

In August, 2005, two top-rated attorneys, each with over twenty-five years experience in previous law firms, joined forces and formed a new law firm. Their philosophy is that clients should receive the highest caliber of legal services from attorneys who listen and respond to their needs, have a firm command of the law and legal tactics, and are well aware of the burdens on individuals and businesses in need of legal services. Those burdens are financial, practical and psychological. The lawyers at Ain & Stein, LLC believe in the golden rule. They want to provide the same high level of service and responsiveness they would expect if the legal problem were theirs.

Michael M. Ain and Gary A. Stein bring their training from nationally prominent law schools and broad experience in the law to their new firm. The hallmark of that experience has been their success in the resolution of disputes of various kinds using a varied arsenal of methods. Both are skilled negotiators; both have been trained in and have employed mediation and arbitration to resolve disputes; and both are successful trial lawyers and litigators with significant experience in our courts of law at both the trial and appellate level.

Although in their fifty years of combined experience the attorneys of Ain & Stein have undertaken a broad spectrum of legal matters, they have focused their talents in the areas of family law, commercial disputes, ADR, medical malpractice, and tort law.

Family Law

The firm's Maryland and Washington D.C. family law practice includes: separation; divorce; divorce mediation; custody; visitation; child support; spousal support; paternity; property division; adoption; pre-nuptial agreements; post-nuptial agreements; division of pensions and stock options; valuation of businesses and other assets; and termination of parental rights.

Tort Law

Tort law is also known as personal injury law. A tort is described as "a civil wrong or wrongful act, whether intentional or accidental, resulting in injury to another." Torts fall into three categories:

  • Intentional torts - purposely inflicting injury.
  • Negligent torts - carelessly causing an accident which results in injury.
  • Strict liability torts - manufacturing, marketing or selling defective products that result in injury.

The lawyers at Ain & Stein accept personal injury cases as common as automobile accidents and as complex as cases of medical malpractice and defective drugs involving tragic mistakes by doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies resulting in life-changing injuries or wrongful death to the victims. Despite their extensive experience, they do not treat your case as routine or ordinary. The Maryland & DC lawyers at Ain & Stein also have significant experience in cases involving dangerous premises, defective products, improper maintenance, dangerous prescription drug interactions, and catastrophic injuries resulting from multi-vehicle or tractor trailer accidents. They generally take these cases on a contingency basis so that clients do not pay legal fees unless and until there is a recovery.

Commercial Law

If you are in need of a Maryland & DC attorney to assist with commerical litigation matters, the lawyers at Ain & Stein have the expertise and experience. Their experience has included but is not limited to the following:

  • Commercial Litigation
  • Arbitration and Mediation of Disputes
  • Business Torts

  • Breach of Fiduciary Duties
  • Contract Interpretation Disputes
  • Specific Performance of Contracts
  • Insurance Disputes and Collection of Insurance Benefits
